Abstract
This study aims at investigating the experiences of death Doulas in Brazil. It is a qualitative piece of research and was carried with 20 death Doulas who were trained and work in Brazil, aged between 27 and 68. The interviews were collected between June and August 2022 and were submitted to the Content Analysis technique. The testimonies were analyzed based on the relevant literature. From the speeches, it was possible to observe that death doulas are collaborators who use compassionate communication strategies in all phases of death with people who experience the end of life and their families. These Doulas act in the whole health care network and are also facilitators educating people for death. They also present some difficulties, such as the taboo of death and the lack of professional regulation, which intensify its occupational stigma. It is crucial to widen the perspective towards death Doulas, so that the visibility and importance of this profession may change the paradigm of death as a forbidden theme and make room for a look at dying well
